One excellent story The Washerwoman's Day and two about a mouse named Zekie that are just so-so. You can really feel when Arnow finds her perfect subject. She understands the poor and downtrodden of Appalachia and those tales are the ones that touch a spot inside you.

The first three stories are very early efforts and it is interesting to see how quickly she finds her best subject and begins to develop her singular style.
