As the cat howls incessantly for its owner to fill its empty food bowl at ungodly hours, when it early in the morning and the sun has yet to scare night away, so too does Homer repeatedly use similes about farming in each paragraph, so that reading his epic poem the Iliad is both long-winded and tiresome.
