The performer who is reading this book—Caitlin Kinnunen—makes Katherine’s voice sound so cute and shy, and I’m so thankful she’s not doing a deeper “male” voice for Michael. It’s still, mostly, sweet and charming. As I am probably her parents’ age or older, I do feel nervous for Katherine… Just be careful, girl.

Getting close to the end. I heard the title spoken aloud just as I was returning from dropping my son off at school yesterday… like, right before I shut off the car in the garage. That was kind of neat. I wouldn’t say I’m in love with this book but it’s not bad. Not totally sure where I’m landing, rating-wise.

Michael refers to his penis as “Ralph”. Is this a reference to THE MOUSE AND THE MOTORCYCLE by Beverly Cleary? Apparently that book came out ten years before this one, in 1965. Crazy that it’s that old. Katherine asks if all men name their penises. I have the same question, actually. Surely… not… 🤨

Audiobook. So far, unsure what to think of Michael. Am I supposed to be creeped out by him, or are boys creepy in general? Also: just read a little of the synopsis and realized the two main characters are Katherine and Michael. Applegate and Grant, anyone? If Michael turns out to be a good guy, I feel like this might have ‘Say Anything’ vibes. We’ll see.
