I should’ve called him. But I let my anger fester too long and went too many weeks without reaching out in reconciliation.
It was true—he did a lot of awful things. I couldn’t even think about the bars or the phone numbers or the kiss without hurt doubling me over, but we could’ve at least talked about it again. Even if it was another fight.
But I let anger and self-preservation take the reins.

What woman was worth this? The last few weeks, I’d watched Peter work his ass off, honestly putting in the effort to improve himself. Only to get kicked to the curb when he could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel?

I wished I knew where her head was—what she was thinking, planning. Or if she wanted another chance for us. But there was no way of knowing until I talked to her. So, until then, I’d keep loving and engaging with the people around me, like my dad said. And keep working on me.
And when I got the chance, I’d give everything and hope it was enough.
