I have met the monster.

I do not yet understand the significance of the theft of the 7-10 list from Black Sakura. I understand the significance of the missing Canner Device: it enables one to prevent their presence from being tracked. But why is everyone so concerned about the list being prematurely released?

Really interesting so far. It took a few pages to get used to the 18th C style of narrating this story of the far future. A bit like getting used to reading a Shakespeare play. So far this book has a similar feel to Gene Wolfe’s Solar Cycle.
