Began reading Angel Gelique's notorious EH/Splatterpunk classic Man Cave tonight. Surprised by first person POV of the antagonist right out of the gate, but then, this would be consistent with the title. Plan to read about 15% a night till finished. Watched a "horror" movie tonight and I got to pick. My selection was declared (garbage) because of the kind of "books" I'm reading. The movie was Hush .

Just stepped out a moment leaving an upset wife angry but baffled about a woman's screams and cries emanating from her husband's Man Cave . The new development 5 months into Ben's wretched treatment of his remaining captive are startling in a number of ways. Will finish this odyssey tonight. I already know how far "bad things" can go. It's one hell of a big umbrella with Ben and his sordid psychotic impulses.

Stepping away from the vermin for awhile, which includes Ben AND the invading rats. The character of Ben is a "gift" of unsettling nightmares that keeps on giving. The derisive voice of his father is a relentless instigator, but the schizophrenic component of his psychosis is perhaps not as deadly as his mind's go-to setting of unreality, blind paranoia, and violent rage. I am doubtful that any captive would be sane.

Stepped away from Amber, alone with only her thoughts while Ben is still vacant from the abbatoir he likes to call his Man Cave . It is a tribute to youth that Amber's psyche has not fractured beyond repair. She has been largely clueless about the nature and causation of her demeaning, angry, and even overtly hostile reactions toward her best friend Sophie's deterioration and certain death. Pivotal point now.

I stepped away from Ben's rape of an empty bloody eye socket following an especially messy enucleation. The feedback is no longer limited to Ben's first person account of the story. Initially there is a false assumption that Ben is a generic misogynist prone to rape, violence, and temper fueled rage. His underlying pathology is far more deadly. It was surprise with the first act of sexual sadism. Then shock.
