Fitz is such a flawed character (not your usual superhero teen) and the consequences of his actions have finally caught up with him—and hit him hard. The first two chapters wrung my heart out.

Hobb did a wonderful job of putting us in his shoes, or maybe I can just relate to his loneliness.

We're definitely not used to having such flawed main characters.
