It would be an overstatement to call this a page-turner.
There are hints of plot - people asking for the help of the retired main character - but so far, they don't go anywhere. Nor is he doing many things of particular significance. It's all very stream-of-consciousness. There were some endearing Irish quirks and expressions initially. Much less so now. In other words: Tough to find a reason to pick this up.
