In Out of My Mind, Melody is very intelligent but struggles to communicate because of cerebral palsy. I feel frustrated when people underestimate her. She thinks to herself, "I have never spoken one single word. I am almost eleven years old" (Draper 2). This quote shows that she cant express herself out loud but only using thoughts in her head.
