I really dislike this book. At the beginning of this chapter Crane didn’t seem too bad as a father but by the end he seems monstrous. There’s a way to do that kind of unfolding reveal well. There’s no reason Gayla should respect him he’s not even deceitful. And I think this chapter was supposed to garner sympathy for Gayla, but I’m more than halfway through the book, it’s too late for that.

I’m just bored, so little happens every chapter. I don’t like agent Crane. It took all the way until now to learn the full truth of his relationship to Gayla. He’s also a boring character, I’m sick of this stoic workaholic archetype. He’s almost like Dedra Meero or Thrawn but like if they were slow and bad at their jobs.
