Gosh I forgot how funny the beginning of this book is! Jane Austen really creates her protagonist and then roasts her and her family for the entire first chapter being like “yeah their family was kinda cool because they had 10 kids but were otherwise really unremarkable” lol. Iconic.

These Thorpe’s are the worst!!! LEAVE my girl CATHERINE ALONE and stop GASLIGHTING HER!! Genuinely so annoyed for my naïve herione who keeps being thwarted in her effort to make REAL friends unlike SOME PEOPLE! Also this whole section in Bath takes a lot longer than I remembered. Very much looking forward to getting to Northanger Abbey… eventually
