Erm...a faggot is a bundle of dried sticks. Check dictionary definition below. Nothing to do with gay people. (not trying to change your mind to DNF, but I read that sentence differently)

I hate it when this happens. You know when you finally tell someone off for something eg being late or cancelling as they’ve done it too many times. And the one time you call them out on it is the only time they have a legit reason, so you’re the one who looks like the a-hole. That happened.

Ah, don't worry about it. It's a rare term nowadays. I only know it because I have seen it used in British hist fic novels when they are about to burn someone at the stake.
