Oh this third-second-first person POV is FASCINATING. “Him” “You” and “Other” chapter headers to label the narrator. And only Bisclavret gets a name?? I can feel the gay simping already beginning; let’s go, werewolf man and yearn-king!

The three narrative povs??? The single name?? The wolf in verse????? Brilliant. I’m not one for medieval literature and while the latter half felt a bit light on plot, in the way it washed over the king in his melancholy, this was novel and clever and beautifully written. I’m assuming Wolfie could understand the king in retrospect? Otherwise he fell in love fast.
