But Kit covers my mouth with his hand, stifling any sound, and I stare at him, my eyes wide.
What the hell is going on?
Another crack cuts through the still morning, and the tree trunk seems to explode a foot above our heads, showering us with wood chips.
Those cracks aren't breaking branches, I realize as cold horror spreads through me.
They're gunshots.

What are you— I mouth, but he's pushing my lapel away from my chest, and then I see it. A scarlet stain blooming in the cream of my sweater, just below my shoulder.
It's not his blood. It's mine.

But no matter what my father says, I know-from the look in Ben's eyes to the way he says my name to his charade of regret— that he isn't here to win us over. He didn't come back to beg forgiveness or to prove he loves us after all.

I don’t know what page I’m in
Cause I read some this morning when I woke up but I didn’t notice what page I stopped at
What I do know is that Evan’s mom has arrive in England to celebrate Christmas with them
Alexander’s mom is not so happy about that

we at the Regal Record can only apologise yet again for revealing her identity this summer and unleashing this Pandora's box of mayhem and vexation on not only the entire country, but the world. One must own up to one's mistakes, and we deeply regret our part in this royal fiasco.
Let us hope that no one else ends up dead tonight.

A loud noise echoes through the woods, and I glance up, sure that a tree branch has broken. But before I can even comprehend what's happening, Kit's arms are around me, and he dives toward the base of the nearest tree as another crack rings out, and then another.
Kit and I hit the hard ground in a heap, his body pressed against mine, and I let out a yelp of pain as my left shoulder seems to bear the brunt of our fall. But Kit covers my mouth with his hand, stifling any sound, and I stare at him, my eyes wide.
