C Ervin I recently read Cozzens book on Iuka and Corinth and really enjoyed its visceral nature. I have this trilogy and I hope when I get around to reading it, this will be of the same vien.

Derek Weese This is a reread for me, it was actually one of the first books on a Civil War battle I read as a kid (I've always had a major fascination with the Battle of Murfreesboro. Most kids get into the Civil War thanks to Gettysburg. Me? It was the Tennessee battles). While Cozzens later books are likely better written, this being his first book, this trilogy of his stand as amongst my favorite books.
Darkest Days of the War is excellent, as are his books on the Native Americans, especially his The Earth is Weeping, and Tecumseh and the Prophet. The only book of his I can think I have not read is Shenandoah 1862, though I have it.
He is one of my favorite historians. Everything he writes is gold, in my opinion. And even if I disagree with a thesis of his (I do with this book, for instance), it doesn’t detract from the worth of his works.
