This is deeply deeply moving, beautifully written — and yet I feel odd, bc we’re talking unendingly about displacement and horror and loss, bc that is the story that needs to be told, the ‘why’ of how Judeo-Iraqi Arabic is now endangered, and there’s so much discussion of the forced displacement from Iraq to Israel… and a bare half a sentence that “Palestinians were uprooted; they call it the Nakba.”
