This history is truly intense and horrifying. Thompson’s style of short intense sentences really hits at this point in the book, describing the murder and trial acquittal in such detail. The weaving throughout time and space is so expertly done. You feel a palpable rage and frustration with the history here.

The history is really well told but this writer refuses longer sentences. It’s a brusque, straightforward writing style that stands out
