This writing style screams Pseudo-intellectualism. I understand what he's talking about: consumerism, narcissism, and the loss of otherness, but his writing sometimes feels unnecessarily complicated to me.
I refuse to think it's because English is my 3rd language. It actually infuriated me to find out this was published in 2012.
