Well this book disproves my theory that the author just needed to base the story around less dreary protagonists.
Pyrre Lakatur was one of the better characters in the Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne books 1-3 series but she is as dull as dishwater in this prequel. I would advise he stick to 3rd person narrative for future books.
Half a book to go and I am done with Mr Staveley after this.
