I was surprised how much I enjoyed this book. The monster's POV is charming, and the mythology and lore of the region is woven into the book beautifully. It reminded me of Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, but with a lovely "found family" plot and the beautiful, enduring strength of two mothers. Extra points for a Very Good Boy(tm) who deserves all the ear scritches.

Solid, solid debut novel!
