because the clarity you gain as you get older hurts more than it heals and maybe if we did everything a bit different but you know things turn out as the universe wills and how were you supposed to know? you read a book at the right time and you find comfort in a character that validates what you endured for years. that you thought no one else experienced, but it turns out that plenty others did. even who you thought did not, and would never, at all. perhaps all we can treasure is the memory and not the what could have beens bc those cut deep into your soul. and we can only take so much from the universe, in the end.

clare may be controversial and inconsistent but some of her remarks on relationships have me lying in bed at 3am lingering on everything i try to ignore
love is patient and kind but it is also intoxicating and destructive. it bleeds into my memories, photos, music, beliefs, and interests. it cannot be taken back. it is in everything i look back on. it is in the background of everything from the moment i fell in to fell out. but what would we be without love?
