I’m slowly making my way through the literal literary labyrinth that is Chapter IX. “Picture that. In your dreams.” Eerie, but it also feels like it’s not quite landing the way it’s intended because I’m a little lost regarding its context…

“[R]eaders of newspapers
and magazines will probably view news
pictures more as illustrations than as
reportage, since they will be well aware
that they can no longer distinguish
between a genuine image and one that
has been manipulated.” Feels like a commentary on AI. I wonder if this source is a legitimate one.

“[S]he's so open and uninhabited, I
mean uninhibited,…” Wait wait wait wait. Is a certain character and the House somehow allegories of one another? Again, wait? What? I must continue.

I just read the footnote of nothing but photographers names for two whole pages; skimming, but never missing a line in case there was some tidbit of information in there. There was not. What am I doing?

I was reading before bed, getting tired but trying to make it to the end of the chapter when I started drifting off but dreaming that I was still reading the book. My eyes were definitely just focused on one spot when I became more conscious again, though. I don’t remember what I dreamed was in the book, time (?), but I remember realizing that I was dreaming and deciding to put the book down for the night. Trippy.

It’s intriguing. I’m surprised that I’m intrigued: I normally find this kind of stuff dull. Feels primarily like an English major writing about a piece of media. Not positive, but there seem to be three writers (so far): Hoss (?) Truant (Lude’s friend; archivist (?); courier font), the editors (a serif font), and Zampano (the dead old guy; Times font; many of his footnotes are (falsified?) references).
