I don’t know. I’ve wanted to read this for YEARS. But her annoying snobbishness about organic foods, which is clearly a word she tosses around to virtue signal and has no working definition of, and her super 1980s attitude about cooking with fat is very, VERY off-putting to me. The recipes ARE lovely, especially for the Friday night dinner.

The recipes are lovely, though salt-free (Colwin’s doctor prescribed her a low-sodium diet), which would be a shame since it seems that she actually once loved salt as much as I do (that is, enough to eat salt all by itself!), except she describes her low-sodium diet with the same smugness and superiority with which she describes everything else. Honestly, I find her “voice” insufferable.
