There are three mortal realms and four Fas Courts. The Fas Courts are ruled by sister Fae Queens. The relationship between the Courts seems fraught. Soren is from one of the Courts. He has led Scarlett to believe he is from the Fire Court. Sorin implies that he is a human from the Fae Courts; not Fae himself (though he may be purposefully misleading Scarlett here). He is looking for some sort of weapon to free his people from oppression. Who the oppressors are is not revealed. Sorin claims he does not know what the weapon actually is.

Scarlett has a ring, gifted to her by her mother, that is likely magic of some sort (and from the Fae Courts). Scarlett also has to take a tonic on a nightly basis. Her dreams seem to allude to her having some great power, and that “He” is hiding her from “them.” Maybe the tonic suppresses her powers? Scarlett believes humans cannot posses magic but her conversations with Sorin prove that much of what Scarlett believes is inaccurate.

Scarlett was send to live with Lord Tyndell as a punishment. He has not made an appearance but his two children, Drake and Tava, seem to have a friendship with Scarlett. Nuri is clearly a secret, yet Tava knows about Nuri. Cassius is involved with the Lord Assasin and Lord Tyndell. He is BFFs with Scarlett. Mikale is friends with Drake and Cassius but is hated by Scarlett (and a douche). He is from some prominent family.

There was a LOT of info-dumping here and it is all a bit hard to keep track of!
