jesus christ it’s like just when you think things couldn’t get any worse, every 3 pages, things do in fact get much, much worse

Having only read the preface, I’m already confident I’m in for a good read. I picked this up after listening to the podcast Tooth & Claw cover the sinking of the Essex, and the fates of its crewmembers that followed, and they listed this book as a reference.
