I read the rest of chapter 5, 6, and 7. I like the friendship between Sanjay and Janani that is re- forming since they were children. And I like that Sanjay is nothing like her husband Darshan. It was so sad to learn that the little baby didn’t survive the night and passed away due to the rain and cold weather. I’m intrigued to learn about what happens during Janani’s next pregnancy.

I am now about halfway through reading chapter 5, and I am enjoying the story. I especially like the chapters that are centred around Janani‘s past because I find it interesting to learn about the culture in Tamil Nadu. I still think the book could benefit from another round of editing because I have noticed a typo and some sentence structure issues. Overall, the story is interesting so far.

I’ve read up to chapter 3 of this book so far and I think the topic of female infanticide is interesting. I am also curious to learn more about Janani’s character and why she is estranged with her family. But so far, I am finding the writing style to be too simplistic for how heavy the topic is.
