This book is well-written, but a bit too much for me. Some of the imagery has honestly given me nightmares. (Specifically certain scenes to do with kids.)

I think that Dolan has done a good job of not sugar coating the horrors, but I can't finish this book.

This book has been incredibly well-done thus far. However, I may wind up having to set it aside. Some of the descriptive scenes have been sticking with me in a way that I did not expect. They probably would not have prior to having my own children.

Dolan has done a fantastic job not sugar coating the atrocities in this work of historical fiction, but that does make it hard to stomach at times.
