Oh wow. This really is an incredibly depressing book. The misery keeps coming in waves. Nonetheless, it is an excellent book so far. I'm not even finished and it feels like absolutely essential reading on modern India if you are so inclined. Not as well written as Salman Rushdie but possibly more emotionally powerful.
