So far I think this work is rather unprofessional. I do not appreciate when scholarly works excessively use emotional vocabularly to manipulate the reader, which is done in this book. E.g. she could have said "the slave trade changed the social system" instead there is "it shocked". And the Asante killed and enslaved people *gasp* in order to acquire power -_- Like it never happened before or after. (tbc.)

(p.2) Or how there were children *gasp* amongst the slaves and that the majority of them had been free people before the Asante and Brits enslaved them. Like, do your research, why did I read five other works then, three of them even more recent than this one that state that many had been slaves before they were bought by the Europeans?! Blatant attempts at emotional manipulation on almost every page. Fuck this.
