10 books behind schedule. I can't decided if it's because I'm in a reading slump or if I've been too damn busy to read lately. Whatever it is, it freaking sucks ass.

What are you in the mood for?

⚜️Charlotte⚜️ Haha, it's called summer! ;)

message 6: by Lisa (new)

Lisa I'm behind as well but I've been reading more fantasy lately and the books are longer. Quality over quantity, it's just a goal, you'll bounce back. Happy Reading!!!

Hmm. For a short story: something dark or a funny read.

Thanks, Lisa. I have a "vacation" coming up soon so hopefully that will give me time to catch up some.

Thanks!

Danielle (Danniegurl) I had 10 now I'm down to like 2. I am in a reading slip too. I've practically started like 20 books and none of them are keeping me interested.

Yup, been there. I'm also not sure what book I want to read. I'm up to date on the Hangmen series and I thinking about catching up to the Fever series. But nothing is really catching my attention so far.

message 14: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Most of the short stories I've marked aren't funny (well some are) or dark, LOL. They are mostly continuations of series I've read.

I am lazy so...have you read the Cut & Run series by Abigail Roux? It's an MM FBI series. While not overly funny (it does have LOL moments), if you've read any of the series, the short's in between are hilarious.

I have a few other suggestions but they are MM too. Let me know if that's of interest to you.

I understand you, Nicole and this is a common issue. You should change often genre, if you think that reading always the same get you bored.
Don't schedule, but try yo read what you like at the moment, indipendently if long or short. But at the end, don't pay too much attention to the challenge, reading is always a pleasure. :)

Dawn Girl I am in the same slump, I had to change my reading challenge. I can't get out of this reading funk. This suck!!

message 17: by Cécile (new)

Cécile Smits I sometimes have that problem after finishing a really intense story,so i sympathise with your reading slump. Trying to find your next fix proves to be....difficult. Don't worry, there's a book out there with your name on it....waiting for you to find it!

message 18: by Debra (new)

Debra I'm slowly comming out of my book slump and it took over a month, that's never happened before. I had The Gypsy Brother's so I read them(they were short) 7/8 books but I'm still behind..

I've learned that when I'm like this I need more books that have snark, kickassedness lol, and the action pretty much bam I opened the book and there it is.

I'm in the middle of Gracling but idk. I've read a lot in the high fantasy (is it that genre) with castles, princesses and kings and court and all that. And while I dig it maybe I've read too many of them or this isn't all action packed. Plus I have trouble to begin with with YA stuff anyways. Blah. This is super annoying though.

Danielle (Danniegurl) Bunnycore wrote: "You know sometimes I pick up something mindless to read for a little while. It makes you tired of the mindless stuff and slip into something else. I hope the slump ends soon for you doll."

That's an interesting idea, my problem is that I'm having less tolerance for the stories to even build up. Mindless or not. If it has trope, or any type of predictability it's like my brain is all nope.

But your suggestion is a great one I may have to try it.

Danielle (Danniegurl) My other issue is I've read most of "the good stuff" in my fav genre. Like if you go to the listopias for UF and Adult UF I've read or have want to read on like 70/100 and some of the others I've banned, like Richelle Mead, and others are YA which I don't care for. Thus the quality of stories I'm finding are lacking. And my fav authors don't have things coming out just yet.

Kim Same, I'm 8 books behind, and I can't find anything I want to read.

message 23: by Nicole (new)

Nicole At least I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. It feels like there just anything jumping out at me that I want to read. It took me over a month just to finish the last book I read and I'm slacking on the one one reading now. Summertime blues?

I'm not really into MM. Made some exceptions and read a couple from my favorite authors, but that's about it I'm afraid. Thanks for your help though Melissa! :)

Mamacita aka MawMaw I have a challenge that has 15 books this month & none of what I've needed to read fit. I've completed 2 books this month towards this challenge.

Danielle (Danniegurl) Ironically I decided to pick up Leveled Saints of Denver 0.5 spin off of Marked Men and this one is MM. not my typical genre but I'm willing to see if it gets me out of my mood.

message 27: by Vicky (new)

Vicky Why don't you try either short reads?
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger Go Ask Alice by Beatrice Sparks Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

Or fast-paced books you can finish in one or two sittings. The V Girl A Coming of Age Story by Mya Robarts The Da Vinci Code (Robert Langdon, #2) by Dan Brown The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu
Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days, #1) by Susan Ee
