Mulan began to pull off the tunic.
“This is a cold night for a swim.” A man’s voice…spoke Chinese from among the trees.
Startled, Mulan let the tunic fall again. “Who’s there ”
An old man walked out of the trees.. [H]e carried a peach.
“Merely a hermit.”
“This is no place for a hermit.”
“The water is good—but it is cold for a swim, young mistress.”
Mulan stiffened. “I am Hua Mulan, a soldier of the Khan."

“One for the Maiden, one for the Mother, one for the Crone,” Kainios said.
