This is just amazing. We hear about the occasional pre-marital baby grown into adulthood disrupting settled Western lives for good or for ill, but the children of zhiqing - educated youth sent to the countryside during the Cultural Revolution - were a phenomenon... making their way into cities like Shanghai and Beijing in search of their parents who had mostly hidden their existence...
