A novella, so short, but includes so much of what I expect and want from Cottam: hints of the unknown from the start; links to earthbound and other evil; a happy, unsuspecting family; land with an unknown past, obliterated for an unspoken reason; a deceased British landowner with Nazi leanings. There are supernatural feelings from early on.
