...and now I can't stop thinking about the Dead Parrot skit from Monty Python.

The parrot flew down and perched right on the back of her hand. She was amazed. Who wouldn't be glad if a lovely parrot came all on its own and perched on one's hand?

Well, okay...but the parrot was dead. The boy just jumped into its dead, parrot body. He didn't magically change the state of its body. That parrot is a zombie.

It always catches me off guard to see "meme" used to refer to anything outside of the internet.
