I can't tell if this book is useful or not yet. In the first lesson (Sound it out) the authors teaches you the difference between the American English and Japanese in several terms, however. I’m still reading it and I can sense the difference between both languages. I believe that it is not really difficult to learn some basic Japanese if you devote some of your time daily!
