I like how Kitty's parents are super supportive.Too many books for YA or middle grade cast parents as terrible, not understanding or just absent.

I like how there are several examples showing how with perseverance & determination you can get things done. Especially, if the main character is a girl

The history of the Yukon Gold Rush & geography of Alaska are great tie ins for middle grade teachers to use.
