An amazing memoir which really made me think and feel. One of those books which stays with you long after you've finished reading it.

An excellent memoir, very moving, detailed, interesting. Perfectly captures all the circumstances he lived through. I saw a link for a radio interview with Phil Barber and listened to it. He said he had kept every letter e.g. From his mum, his brother, aunties etc and used these to help paint an accurate picture of the times. He also visited the Barnardos archives.
