I really loved the first 2 books, so I'm still optimistic about this one. But right now, I think Mare's an idiot & Maven's not frightening or interesting at all. If I hadn't read the first 2 books, I'd wonder why Mare's so afraid of him; why we as readers are supposed to be afraid of him. He's weak. He let his fiancée publicly defy him, and hasn't been a strong, fearsome character. Hope Mare gets some backbone soon.
