Gen Xrs got Trump into office. Why? Clinton had the charisma of a toad while Trump appealed to the masculine of the 13th male and gave the 13th female what she's been looking for at least on the surface since the 90s, a real man.

Gen Xrs, like myself, saw the world as cold and cruel because the world was cold and cruel to us and it remains so to this day. We were and are realists not idealists. You want ideals? Check in with the Boomers, that self righteous lot that sold us 'Make Love, Not War' and then proceeded to break up families through the war of divorce while assuring the children that it was done out of love for them.

To my parents, I was the latchkey child. To my mom, I was the boomerang child. To my dad, the throwaway child.

He was absolutely right. It was simply a means to an end, that is, a well paying job. Which, in my case, worked out well. My fellow Gen Xrs have had various levels of success in this, however.

My generation was devastated by the divorce and abortion culture brought about by the late Silent and the Boomer generations. As such we were the most unwanted people in the history of these United States. Woah, dude.
