Pretty much a basic retelling of anthropological practice and theory in the first chapter. It's nothing special to us now, but when the book was published I can imagine the ideas were rather revolutionary. The second chapter is much more interesting, containing a discussion about the idea of "race" and the issues with the contemporary use of the idea.
