One reason I don't know much about 1550's could be that the Spanish, Italians, Venetians and Christianity were losing most battles at the height of the Ottoman period. There is more than one Crusader Barbarossa. Several different names for pirates, who could be both Christian and Muslim, so much slavery on both sides. Most maps don't have details of the islands and sea battles in Algeria, Tunisia, Malta, etc.
