I think the overall most appealing characteristic of the writing is that it's just playing smart! the characters are engaging and I have a genuine concern for them... Not as much concern I have however for the storyline as the mystery slowly unravels.

I suppose, as a reader, when you have an emotional response... that generally means you are invested in the story. so, I won't go into details, because that would mean spoilers. And I won't cuss... As much as I would like to! and the pages keep on turning.
