Amber > Status Update

I'm finding this book intriguing so far but the author keeps using the phrase " Simon goes . " Emma goes." Etc instead of "said Simon " or "Emma said " ..... I find it really poor grammar and really annoying ! They aren't going anywhere as my mum used to say !
