Bought this for my teenage outdoorsman nephew. Reading to make sure it is appropriate. So far, so good. I know a thing or two about hunting and fishing. This one surpasses me with the latest technology & brand names & some terms, but still getting the point.
First short story hilarious ending. Some very heartfelt stories, too, besides some of the more "usual" for an outdoor columnist or hunting type.

A couple more noteworthy items from the wisdom & experience of Bill Heavey:
1. Money can't buy happiness, but it will substantially upgrade the quality of your misery.
2. [Wish technology had been around in the 90s when I did a 500-mile bicycle trek over 7 days in July each year.] Use a food vacuum sealer to create daily packets of clean socks & underwear. Would still be handy for travel, if I could still travel!

Not as many LOL anecdotes as I had hoped. Anyway, since my GR friends are unlikely to ever read this book, I'm sharing a "how cold are you" chuckle. [After spending two hours exposed to the harsh January winter elements in a deer stand]: "I start to think I would be warmer if I could just take a glass of ice water and pour it down my pants." Now THAT I can relate to...if only from December Chicago football games.

Enjoying this book, but not a page-burner for someone who doesn't hunt and just knows hunter and some things about hunting. :-)
