Sud666 Dipanjan- have you ever noticed the numbers of the "Resistance" in France swelled AFTER the war? *l* For true resistance to Nazi's look to the East- in Yugoslavia and Russia very specifically. Or in Western Europe the very brave Dutch and Belgians. I always found it amusing that the French Maquis swelled in numbers in june 1944. Gee..I wonder what happened in June of '44? But anyways thanks to US/British Intel (OSS and SOE) the french were reorganized into the French Forces of the Interior (FFI)..it started with 100K and then by the winter months had grown to, I think, around 400K and became the nucleus for the French Army. Thus those oversized numbers lead to the idea that there was a severe resistance to the Nazis in France. Now check out the numbers of French who were in the Vichy government, the pro-Nazi Milice française (a militia that "assisted" SS/GESTAPO operations) and the French who joined the Waffen SS (they had foreign legions)....

Dipanjan I am more interested about Jean Moulin than the Maquis or the Milice. I am looking for a biography of Jean Moulin. Can u suggest me one ?

Sud666 Ahhh Jean Moulin eh? An admirable man..do you speak/read French? If so I'd recommend Jacques Baynac's "Les secrets de l'affaire Jean Moulin: Contexte, Causes Et Circonstances." and Alan Clinton's "Jean Moulin, 1899–1943: the French Resistance and the Republic. "
