This is rather a tough plot scenario to reconcile with, mermaids in an Alaskan strip club, although original, the author daunts the reader with too much mystery as to why these mermaids have chosen this place as a means to an end of, I don't know what, because the author hasn't revealed anything relevant yet.

We enter the private thoughts of each character, chapter by chapter. The book opens with the mourning of a lost seaman, but these men choose to hold their Memorial in a strip club somewhere in Alaska. There is foreshowing that these mermaids on land are trying to make money for some unknown reason, but during the stripper's dance no money exchanges hands.
