I think Charlie is happy giving the truck to Bella it is a homecoming gift.
On the page 7 the author Stephanie Meyer Shows Charlie 's says " I found a good car for you, really cheap"
This dhows that Charlie's dad of Bella is trying to give her a car for her homecoming, He bought a truck form Billy Black .
But Bella is a little upset of the old truck but she appreciate his Dad gift.
