The story revolves around a doctor from Texas who is of Iranian descent. He has an aging mother who still lives in Tehran, Tehran is the place where the American hostage crises happened under Khomeini, and how the relations between the US and Iran have become strained to say the least. The doctor has become an American citizen and appreciates America, however, Khomeini has made travel to and from Iran very hard.
