So far I have loved this book but I have to tell you...I wish the book could end once the trip did. I know why the author didn't and shouldn't really but it is still my opinion. Everything after they get back to St. Louis slows way down. Still love it but getting excited to be done.

We're finally moving upriver into the unknown! As always Ambrose is calculated in his use of realestate within the book, you can feel that calculation as you go from chapter to chapter. No detail is insignificant or included by happenstance. Really enjoying it still.
