It had been 5 days since the paternity test. Easton was anxious. Last night we actually got into one of the dumbest arguments I’d ever had in my life. Who argues over which way the towel should be placed on the rack in the bathroom. A stressed-out, barely-hanging-on-to-his-sanity, ready-to-punch-anything man, that’s who, and right now that was the perfect description of Easton Black.

“Is everything okay?” I couldn’t help but ask. Something felt different, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. “It is now,” he whispered and opened his eyes to meet my gaze. “You make things better.” I never got emotional, like, ever. Well, at least not in anyone’s presence. But right then I wanted to crawl inside of him and stay there forever.

I couldn’t handle the drama that seemed to follow Sarah anymore. I should have severed ties with her when Ricochet became mine. I tried not to let the situation sour my mood. I’d been looking forward to being with Harper all day. Between her schedule and mine, we hadn’t seen much of each other since our first night together.

Before this night was over, Harper would have no doubt of my interest in her. I planned on making it obvious to her and everyone around her that I wanted more than friendship.

Tonight, I had every intention of continuing the little game of flirting Easton and I played earlier this week. He kept things interesting, he was strong and confident, and he didn’t back down from my attitude. In fact, that man could dish it out sometimes faster than I could. I wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but he made my heart race.

Jett and Easton had better run; I was going to kill them both. And when I was finished with those two, Ian would get his. That man would remember I am not the kind of girl to tolerate being approached like that. I was more than sure he needed a little lesson in Harper 101: don’t piss me off, because it will never end up in your favor.
